A visual homage to Over the Garden Wall.
As the final film in this loosely connected series of homage film, Return to the Unknown serves primarily as an interpretative sequel to the original animates series to which it tributes.
While Partners was entirely a visual homage, and Between Two Worlds was mostly a visual homage with story elements thrown in—Return to the Unknown puts a much stronger emphasis on story, which is why it’s the most ambitious project I’ve ever made!

Several months after sharing Partners in black and white, I reconvened with Justin and Katherine to shoot and edit an alternate cut of Partners in color. With added scenes and references, this version serves as a tribute to the colorful cinematography of Better Call Saul.

A visual homage to Twin Peaks.
After Partners, I knew I wanted to create another visual homage. And it didn’t take long to realize Twin Peaks was the answer. This is both my personal interpretation and a collaborative recreation of the iconic tapestry of David Lynch’s strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks. I cannot express how thankful I am to the people involved in its creation—all friends who share a passion for film and television.
