Melancholy

A Post-Apocalyptic Short

Melancholy

December 2016

Roger, an enigmatic sentimentalist, survives a global chemical attack. Left only with his camera and a bicycle, he embarks on a curious quest to find earth’s last blossoms.

This story was originally conceived as a series of nine photographs. I later adapted the story into a film when I learned that Adam Young was holding contest in which contestants were invited to make a short film using his film scores project as their soundtrack.

I immediately started writing the story and convened with my friend Corbin Hughes for the lead role.

This is one of my earliest works but I’m very proud of it. It marks a moment in my creative journey where I decided to go make a dream reality, disregarding fears or lack of assets.

I found Corbin’s commitment to the lead so impactful that I knew I wanted to continue telling stories through film.
